Granular synthesis at your fingertips.

Splinter is a digital musical instrument made to play grains of sound with your hands, using a Leap Motion™ controller. No keyboard, MIDI, or automation - a direct connection between gesture and sound.

Using sample-based granular synthesis, grains are triggered by the movement of the player's right hand. Grain density is primarily controlled by the speed of the right hand and the loaded sample. Grain parameters are modified by the position and rotation of the left hand.

Two versions of Splinter are available, different only in their mapping strategy: Splinter[s] uses simple, one-to-one mapping of Leap Motion™ data to synthesis parameters, while Splinter[c] uses complex, convergent and divergent mapping. Check out the manual for a detailed overview of the mapping in each version.
